Jeremy and I went for our first time to go and do baptisms for the dead this past Thursday. We were suppose to have our bishop and a couple of families go with us but no one could make it. Our bishop tried his hardest to get one of counselors to go with but one was out of town and one could not get out of work. So what were to do? We talked and prayed about it and decided we would brave it ourselves. Jeremy's parents were nice enough to watch the kids so we could go down there. What a nerve racking experience. The kids were so happy to see their grandparents and great grandma, so we knew they were in good hands. I said a little prayer in my head on the way down to the temple to please have the spirit with us that we can follow through with it. We found a decent parking spot, started walking up to the baptistry door and went in. Our bishop had called ahead and spoke to one of the ladies there to let them know it was our first time and they said they would take good care of us. We got changed and first did about 10 confirmations each and then went to do 10 baptisms each. The funny part was, I wore my contacts so I kept my eyes closed the whole time and the first two dunks I lost my balance and almost fell. HOW EMBARRASSING. The guy performing the baptisms had to ask if I was OK. After I got my footing back it was smooth sailing. I was so glad we decided to go, even if it was by ourselves. So who's up to go with me next time?

I'm glad you guys were brave and went anyway! I kept my eyes shut the whole time too! Darn contacts! I'd love to go next time with you too!

OK, so maybe it's my emotional time of the month...but I am reading your blog and totally crying! What an experience. How strong youa re to go anyways on your own! Way-to-go! I almost fell over my first time also! But as you will soon come to find out, the temple is the LEAST judgemental place on earth. Everyone is equal and the feelings there are so peaceful and awesome! I hope you let us know when you are going through endowments for the first time. We would love to be there...of course I might blubber the whole time!
